Breast Friends Cancer Support Network – Allison Stover Fiscalini – The WISDOM Study – Women Informed to Screen Depending On Measures of Risk

Allison Stover Fiscalini, Director, Athena Breast Health Network and WISDOM Study, will be speaking about the founding of The WISDOM Study (Women Informed to Screen Depending on Measures of risk), a national study that seeks to revolutionize the way breast cancer is detected. She will explain how the study compares two safe approaches, an annual mammogram or a personalized screening approach based on a woman’s unique risk factors for breast cancer, such as breast density, genes and family history. This study has already signed up over 40,000 women from each of the 50 states across the country to answer the ultimate question of, “How often should women screen for breast cancer?”

Why is WISDOM important?

“The WISDOM trial is an exciting opportunity for all of us to participate in a program that will help us learn who’s really at risk for what kind of breast cancer. Together we can create a better future and enable significant improvements in the approach, outcomes of and experience of breast cancer screening for generations to come.”
